The Semper Opera - Staatsoper Dresden - is a masterpiece of Baroque architecture of the 19th Century and a tourist highlight of Dresden. The elaborately decorated facade and ornate interior is the largest and most expensive Oper-building Europe. With its excellent acoustics, the masterly architectural details, not least with the high quality of the ensemble received the Semper Opera worldwide recognition. The Saxon State Opera Dresden on theater space has a long historical tradition, which until the Renaissance back. The architect Gottfried Semper built a representative in 1838 Opera House, but it burned down in September 1869. Under the leadership of his eldest son Manfred Semper was from 1871 to 1878 the second building in the opera of the Italian Renaissance style building.
